[ time for another episode of Bull in the Big City! he's on horseback today (Rapidashback, to be specific), and is headed in the general direction of the department store! but on his way, a query for the pokegear: ]

Citizens of Johto, hi, or, uhh, good morning, I guess it is... I was wondering a thing and I was hoping that maybe there would be another someone, or perhaps multiple someones, who would be possibly capable of helping me with the thing I was wondering about. It worked pretty well the last time I asked, so, uhh, anyway, I guess I should probably ask it now. The thing that I'm wondering is that I recently received an advisement to attempt battling the leader of the Gym establishment here, uhh, in Goldenrod City, which is where I am right now, still, but I don't know if that's a thing that I could do, because I heard that the Gym places are pretty formidable. So I guess I was thinking that maybe I could effectively make myself open to suggestions on how a way would be to tackle such a task in a successful manner.

Oh, sorry, uhh, was I talking too fast? [ seems kind of surprised by that, but he clears his throat and tentatively starts again. ] The thing that I was wanting help with was, uhh, suggestions regarding an encounter with the leader of the Gym establishment in Goldenrod City. Namely... what kinds of things I should do in order to be prepared? And, uhh, I guess just stuff like that.

Don't have anything specific for ya. Just train and bring lots of healing stuff. But if you're that worried, you could always just go challenge her. If ya win, then you're done. If you don't, then you know what you gotta improve, yeah?

There's two things that make the Miltank annoying.

Number one: rollout.

Aaand number two: attract.

The gym leaders are pretty tough in general. I wouldn't want to go up against 'em under-leveled. [he pauses.] m'not sure how strong they are, but I've heard things from my friends. The gym leader here is kind of a cry baby when she loses though, and I think she fights with normal types? Not sure what type has the advantage there... [he taps his chin thoughtfully.] But as far as strengthening up your pokémon you can have them battle against the wild.

Oh, yes, I've been trying to prepare my monsters for more formidable duels by practicing on less, uhh, challenging opponents, but, I guess maybe not as much as I potentially could have been, regarding the training, since, it just didn't feel like it was the right thing to do to be making them do all the battling all the time.

Nah, man. You wanna put your pokémon up against the stronger, more challenging ones. That's how they get stronger. Things'll just go slow if you keep giving them easy wins. [he pauses.] And yeah, it might not feel right, but it's in their nature? If that makes sense.

Oh, well, that's okay if you don't know, because I also don't know, so the thing is that we're not knowing together, which makes it not so bad, I guess. But, uhh, yes, thinking positively is a thing that I was told was something I should do, so, I'm trying to adopt that mindset like the thing you just said.
