[ Tavros is not feeling festive or interested in capturing beasts. he has not felt like this for several days. and after spending these several days by himself, thinking Deep Thoughts, he has finally emerged to speak on the communicator regarding them, opting for video despite how much harder actually talking is versus typing. he just gives the camera a long look, fumbling for words, before speaking. ]

Uhh, so, there's a matter which has, I guess, come to my attention, recently, and I was thinking about it a lot, and wondering some things, that I couldn't really figure out an answer to, so, I guess what I was wondering is if anyone that's, uhh, here, could maybe help me with the figuring out, that I mentioned, regarding this topic. ...which is that I was wondering about... uh. Individuals who, previously, as in, before they got here, to Johto, when they were at the place they originated from, that were in a state of being, uhh. Not. Alive, anymore.

[ a pause, frowning thoughtfully. ]

It's probably sort of obvious that they're not in that state of un-alive, like I said, now, but, I was wondering if maybe they knew about it when they got here, or... uhh, well, I don't really know exactly, what I'm asking for, I just. It's kind of bothering me, I guess.

[ he starts to say something else but ultimately decides he's staggered through his sentences enough and fumbles uncomfortably with the 'gear before turning it off. ]

Well, the thing was that I said hello to him, and he said something about dead people running around, and, also explained that a number of us were possibly not alive, in the same subject as the first part of what I just said, but, uhh, he didn't say who, or how. And also Sollux said that someone went crazy one time, and also I found out that Eridan is one of the dead trolls that was mentioned, and I'm just, uhh, kind of concerned, because I think I might be one of them also, but I really hope not.

[ ...yeah, so he kind of blew up a little there. he's just so distressed by this thought. ]

[There's silence for a while.]

[Long enough that it seems like she might have hung up. Eventually though she decides to pretty much ignore it.]

Does it matter? I mean, it's not like you're dead here, right?

[ he is actually pretty surprised when she says something, and takes a moment, just a short one, of his own before replying. ]

Yes, I guess that's true. Just, I don't know, uhh, it sort of makes me feel sad, in a way, that maybe, this is all the time I have, if that's a way that I can phrase it so that it articulates the things that I'm feeling in a clear way. And also the others that, possibly, have the same fate, or worse, since, I don't actually know the details of what that is.

[Surprisingly she knows exactly how he's feeling for once. She's been feeling the same since her talk with Karkat.]

Yeah, well you'll just have to make the most of it then! Don't back down from anything!

That's a thing that I would hopefully try to accomplish in any situation, even if being not alive, uhh, in a premature way, were a thing that I was ultimately possibly facing. But I probably still wouldn't be better at doing that.

Puh-leeeeeeeese. When did you ever make the most of a situation? I can't think of one time, and you had plenty of chances. You've got to change that here! You want to do something, you do it!

Have to, is that a thing that you're saying in a way that sounds crucial, because it's true, the thing about me also being dead, back where we're from and, uhh, not this place?

[ there, he came right out and said it. in his roundabout way, anyway. ]

[A beat.]

Didn't we just decide that wasn't important!

No, although, it was sort of suggested, I guess.

It's not important! I'm deciding that right now. Do you reeeeeeeeally need to know? It's not going to change anything one way or another!

But, that's the thing is that it is, I think, going to change a lot of things regarding how I look at stuff, since, what it could effectively be is the last time that I ever get to look at it! The stuff, that I mentioned, I mean, which is a general time for, uhh, basically anything...

[There's a long silence as Vriska contemplates how to answer this.]

You could just assume you are, and then hey, if you're alive when you go back, bam! Nice surprise.

[Yeah, she's avoiding the answer. 'Hey I killed you' just doesn't have the right ring to it.]

[ a nice long healthy sigh on Tavros' end. not annoyed or exasperated because even if he were those things he would never sigh like that at Vriska without expecting to get his ass kicked (or some other part of him that can actually feel things), but. maybe kind of disappointed or disheartened. ]

I could do that, and, uhh, things would be a lot simpler.

Exactly! It would be simpler. I'm not thinking about whether or not I'm dead back home.

It really doesn't bother you? Like, uhh, at all, in any way?

Bother me? Why would it bother me? Besides, there's no way I could actually die. Godtier and all remember. Unless I went out in a fight of epic glory, which I wouldn't put past me, I'm still perfectly fine.

[There's a slight pause. Yeah, it bothers her. But denial is always the best course of action.]

It doesn't bother me at all. And it shouldn't bother you!

I guess, maybe, it shouldn't. I don't know. I'm not really brave like you.

[ although "brave" is more of a heroic adjective that he'd give Pupa Pan, not Vriska. still, it seemed fitting in this case. ]
