[ when the feed turns on, Tavros, sitting in his wheelchair with the camera pointed toward him, holds a hand up in front of him. between two fingers is the Mineral Badge from Olivine, and he grins. but wait!! then he does a nifty little trick with his fingers and the rest of his badges appear between splayed fingers—all of the ones from Johto so far, up until Olivine.

he looks mighty pleased with himself (for a change), grinning almost the entire time he talks. ]

Hehe, pretty cool, huh? I just got another one, the one from Jasmine, uh, pretty much only a few minutes ago. [ he gathers the badges into his open hand. ] That makes five now, and that means that there's mostly not that many to go before I'll have all of the badges. Well, from Johto, anyway, I guess. Still, that is partially an "all of them" situation, basically.

[ but then his grin fades a little. ]

If I can tell something in an honest fashion to the individuals that are listening to this... I'm sort of not really sure if it's just because I feel more confident, in a way, or if it's because my Pokemon beasts are especially formidable now, but this is pretty much more of an accomplishment than, uhh, other things I ever did. It's kind of... nice?

[ he makes an "oof" noises, but grins half-heartedly anyway. ]

Well, I was thinking that I would take a boat, or some other kind of ferrying device, but definitely not the one that is for wimping out and being lame. So I guess the latter one is the one that is my answer.

Great! We should head out as soon as possible. Today! Teach our Pokémon this Surf move, hop on our Gyarados or whatever, and ride the waves!

[Can you tell she's actually kind of excited about this. She's kind of excited about this.]

[ he can sort of tell she's excited about this, yes. ]

Okay, yes, let's do this surfing thing, that you mentioned. I just have to go back to the PC and get, uhh, Milotic, because I think she would be best for this task, rather than Swanna.

Good! Then we can take on the next gym. Ready for it? [She grins.]

Uhh... I think so, yes.

Good, 'cause we're not stopping to train. We have this one in the bag!

That's okay. My Pokemon beasts are pretty high leveled already.

Oh reeeeeeeeally? [She smirks] Maybe you should try taking on the elite team then?

[She's leans on his shoulders, teasing.]

[ peers up at her from around her arm, sheepish ]

Well... they're not that high. I think? I don't really know what the, uhh, challenge level for that is.

It's basically for total badasses who have reached level 100 with their Pokébeasts and are looking for a real challenge. Or so I've heard. Sounds like fun.

Oh. I have a couple of Pokemon that are at the 100 level, but just a couple, and that's probably not enough to take on a whole team of a gym leader's beasts.

We'll just have to train them up then! I'm instituting a hardcore training regiment on us, once we beat the Johto circuit. Got that!

[This is not up for negotiation here Tavros.]

I know what you mean there. Watching my Pokemon get stronger, beating the harder gyms and getting badges feels like a huge accomplishment. I never got to do stuff this awesome back home.

Congrats on your new badge, by the way! You'll get some good HM use out of that one.

Same here, mostly. There was some awesome stuff that happened, but it wasn't really stuff that I did, uhh, myself.

Yeah, hehe. Thanks. I'm pretty excited to start getting to use it!

Oh yeah? Y'know, that was the same with me. It feels like now that I'm in Johto, I'm in charge of my own awesome adventure. It's awesome.

I think you even get your own battle music when you hit five badges.

[ wait hold the phone. ]

You get your own theme music?

Yeah! At least, when I got five badges, different music started playing when I went into Pokemon battles. It's pretty sweet!

Oh, man, that does sound really sweet, so to speak. I think I might, uhh, have to try this and see if it also works for me...

You should! Everyone has different themes from what I've heard. I wonder what yours sounds like.

[ a pause, then he hands the Pokegear to someone off-screen to hold for him and turns that wheelchair around to go back outside, with whoever's filming now following behind him. ]

I'm gonna test it.

[And now he'll watch/listen intently for some awesome new battle music. It's always fun to have a break from the standard fare.]

[ he takes a few moments to wheel outside and into some tall grass, with whatever is holding his 'gear clip-clopping behind him, and then...

Oh, wow, oh hell yes, I love this song!

Dude, that song is awesome! Sounds like the usual music, but with the awesome level ramped up like tenfold.

I think it's pretty cool. I still haven't left Cherrygrove.

Oh wow, Cherrygrove, that's pretty far. It's a generally nice place to be at, though. I almost stayed there forever when, uhh, getting here was a brand new thing and I was just starting out.

Sometimes it feels like I will stay forever, actually. I never left home before, so travelling is new and kind of scary for me.

I guess it can be kind of scary sometimes. I had some friends that I was wanting to get to that were staying in Goldenrod, so, uhh, that's why I ended up leaving, even though I didn't think I would. So if you have any people that you can meet up with, maybe that will help?

I don't know anyone very well yet, and there's no one else here from my home. But I do want to be able to Fly, and I guess you need gym badges for that.

Oh yeah, flying, that's something I'm still working toward, also. I think you need the badge from the bird-type gym person, and then you also have to get the thing, that lets you do it. That one is at, uhh... actually, I think it's at the place I'm going next.

Gee, I guess it'll be a while before I can fly again, then. But I'll do my best! I bet you'll do really well, too!

I hope so. I'm sure that you'll also do pretty well, if you put your mind to it. The beginning parts are sort of difficult and confusing, and also tiring, especially if you go by yourself, but, uhh, it gets easier when you're close to your Pokemon creatures.

Definitely! It's a thing that you can mostly take as a fact, if you want to.

[ it's mostly because he's been bullied into it, but at least it's having a non-adverse effect, for once. ]

Hehe, do you think so? Sometimes I sort of feel like maybe I'm having too much credit directed at myself.

Well, it's good to recognize when you have help, of course, but you should definitely take some credit. You must have done a good job training your team, if you've got that many badges.

I guess that's right, yeah. Mostly what I do is just spend lots and lots of time with the, uh, Pokemon that I have, because they're all ones that I got from people who left, so we're just really close friends.

A lot of my pokemon are like that, too... I think I'm a lot closer with them than some of my own pokemon, actually.

Me too. Except for Rufio, probably. My starter.

I don't see why you wouldn't take pride in it. It is an accomplishment after all.

But it was more a thing that my Pokemon actually did, and I just did the telling them what attacks to do part.

That is often how good leaders think. You could always treat your pokemon for the win.

Oh, yes, that makes sense. I usually give them some good rest and, uhh, praise, and sometimes some of those snacks that are for giving to Pokemon. But nothing especially, you know, special.
