[ Tavros sits on the edge of his hotel room bed, both hands resting on the neck ruff of a Luxray that is seated next to him. she's curled up and mostly asleep, aside from occasionally peeking one eye open and leering at the window, where a small, brown shape can be seen popping up every so often.

for his part, Tavros seems pretty... down. he doesn't speak up right away, unsurely glancing at the camera and then down at the Luxray next to him. when he does start to talk, he keeps his gaze down. ]

I sure have a lot of beasts in my possession that come to me because of the departure of their trainers. After this one I'm starting to kind of wonder why? I mean, uh... not the thing where they come to me, because that part is already something I can ask them why about and they can tell me. The Pokemon, I mean. [ he spent plenty of time communing with this one, that's for sure. ] What I mostly meant was the part about why they have to in the first place, because of having, uhh, nowhere else to go. Since their previous keeper is gone.

[ a furrow in his brow, then he looks over at the camera, frowning. maybe a little angry-looking to go with all that upset. ]

Why is that a thing that keeps happening? To others and not some people, uh, how is that being decided, and by who, that's what I want to know. Because it is making for a lot of sad individuals, and especially sad Pokemon. All of mine are sad Pokemon that miss their trainers.

[ ... sigh. ]

I miss my friends too.

[Currently, John is airborne, riding on the back of his Altaria on his way with Rose to go join Jade. Waking up this morning to find a whole bunch of Dave's pokemon in their room meant only one thing, after all. And with Dave gone, Jade was all alone in Kanto.]

I don't honestly know if anyone has an answer as to why it happens, Tavros. It just does and we kind of have to deal with it. It's not a nice thing to have to get used to, but if you don't you'll just work yourself into mess of bad feelings. It's okay to miss them, I miss all my friends that are gone too but...just don't let yourself get too hung up over them, okay? [He gives a weak laugh.] Especially not Dave since that asshole will be back before you know it, he always is. Johto has trouble holding onto Strider swag for extended periods.

[ that might've been reassuring if he wasn't fresh out of a depressing conversation with yet another pokemon, so he just shakes his head, fingers clenching in the blankets on his bed. ]

I guess that nothing you said is not, uh, right? But it still doesn't feel as though it's good enough to make sense for, I guess, these Pokemon, or me either, because it just keeps happening and then they don't come back to get them again.

Well...no, it's not good enough. And it's always really unfortunate that the pokemon get left behind in all this. I imagine it hits them in a different way than it does us. But at least the pokemon have someone else to care for them now. And surely that's better than being all alone.

Yeah, that's true.

[ although one glance at the Luxray half in his lap kind of waves away any reassurance he might've had. ]

Maybe they will come back again.

[He glances at the Luxray and gives a small smile.]

And I'm sure that Selina and Loke will be glad that their sister ended up with someone as kind as you. I can't speak to anybody else you know that's left but Dave will be back before we know it. Dude never even gives us time to really be sad before he shows up in New Bark again all 'Sup guys, I'm here and I have inappropriate Pokemon metaphors for you."

Inappropriate everything metaphors, really.

Honestly, I, uh, feel kind of silly for being upset, because he was pretty much the biggest of jerks, and I don't really why he would send a nice Pokemon beast like this to me.

[Shrug!]

It's just how he is. Dave being a jerk doesn't mean that he doesn't like you though. I am his best friend but that doesn't stop him from being a total prick to me at times.

I guess so, but I don't know, did he constantly always talk about his human bits with you, too, even when you said don't ever do that ever, or else he would get the block again?

Dave talks about his human bits with everyone, doesn't matter how many times you tell him to stop. Dude has a serious dick obsession and probably needs more therapeutic help than Rose can give him. But nah, for me it usually has something to do with my movies, which are awesome by the way, just in case he ever tries to convince you otherwise.

Nothing Dave says, or said, I guess, could convince me about anything.

[ folds his arms ]

Besides, I'm sure that your movies are suitably awesome, like you said, since, I would generally trust your taste on most things.

They are. And if I had any of them with me, I would show you but sadly they don't exist in Johto.

[This is a true tragedy. Not Dave disappearing again, but the fact that nobody in Johto will ever be able to see the glory that is Ghostbusters II, Armageddon, or Con Air.]

Anyway, cheer up. I know it's doubly hard for you since you can talk to the pokemon but you really can't let this stuff get to you too much. It happens far too often for that.

I know, and, uh, what you said is true about not letting it be getting to me, but, the thing that you said is also why it's hard to not be feeling upset in the first place.

Mm...yeah. I can see how it would be. I never really thought about that aspect of being able to talk to pokemon before.

[And he can only imagine how hard it must be. Just seeing their sad faces is enough for him. Seppucrow had been distraught...]

It will get easier though, Tavros. Things will get better. And that's really the best you can tell them. That and take the best care of them that you can, which is probably a given.

That's what I do say, usually. And it's okay, because, I mean, a camaraderie happens, and we do good things like taking on gyms and things, and it's fun, but it's sort of like I sometimes feel like a replacement? So...
